Lyrical Layouts ft. The Band Camino

This was a project for Boston University’s CM 501 Digital Design and Strategy class. The purpose of this assignment is to:

1. Demonstrate an understanding of good typography and text layout

2. Experiment with type and break the “rules” to express content. 

Both layouts must include 10-20 lines of song lyrics, the artist’s name, and the title of the song.

For the first layout, identify a typeface that reflects the nature of the words. Set the text following the standard guides for type design. There should be a focus on legibility, type size, leading, spacing, and hierarchy. Only use one color.
For the second layout, break all the “rules” and express the meaning of the words using visual tactics. The layout may have two colors.
